From Home Comfort to Team Energy: Why I'm Excited About Going Back to the Office

Earlier this year, I sat in an empty office waiting for a delivery of a conference table and a refrigerator – typical when you’re moving to a new office (#entrepreneurlife). While I was there, I had a couple of meetings on Zoom and one of the folks I met with chuckled at the starkness of my background, saying that it looked like the set of Severance on Apple TV+.

We laughed and joked about how bizarre it was to be taking this meeting from a mostly empty office. But after we said our goodbyes, I reflected on a few things:

...how in only a few days this office would be buzzing with the energy of a team of people who enjoy working together.

...how the team is excited about being in a new, more modern, and larger space.

...how fun it can be to work with a team and in an office.

You see, most of the work I do is from my home office, on the road with my clients, and sometimes at a co-working space. But there are days when I miss being in an office space every day and working with other people. (So, let's not be surprised if I spend more time in this new office...well, at least now that there's furniture!).

I know the shift back into the office after getting used to working from home can be challenging. But I have to admit, there's a benefit to working with a team in the same space, particularly when that team is high-performing! If your entire business is WFH, it’s worth thinking through if giving the option of an office or co-working space membership would bring your team’s performance to the next level.
