Embracing 50: A Journey of Wisdom, Joy, and Legacy

In February, I celebrated my 50th birthday … and I found myself caught in an emotional tug-of-war – both loving and loathing this significant milestone. But that morning, I made a decision: 50 isn't just a number; it's a mindset. And I'm fully committed to embracing this new chapter with intention and purpose.

My Commitments for This Next Trip Around the Sun:

Protecting My Energy

I'm learning to treat my energy as the limited-edition resource it truly is. Not every call to action deserves my RSVP, and not every brushfire needs my extinguisher. Being selective about where you direct your attention and efforts isn't selfish – it's necessary.

Sharing Wisdom Unapologetically

Five decades of learning, failing, and breaking through barriers have given me insights worth sharing. These experiences aren't just material for my future memoir – they're valuable lessons I can share and invest in the marketplace now. My perspective matters, and there is value in it.

Investing in Joy Multipliers

Life is too short not to prioritize what brings genuine happiness. Whether that's stamping my well-worn passport with new adventures, deepening connections with family and friends, or creating space for meaningful work – I'm committed to allocating resources to everything that equals both purpose AND pleasure.

Honoring My Pace

Success isn't about winning a race; it's about finding your rhythm. At 50, I'm finally learning to stop apologizing when I need a slower pace. My timeline is my own, and I'm embracing it without explanation or justification.

Focusing on Legacy

These five decades have taught me that how and where I apply my gifts matters. Every decision, project, and relationship is now viewed through the lens of legacy – what impact do I want to leave behind? This perspective brings clarity and purpose to each choice.

Here's to 50 years of acquiring knowledge and a lifetime of putting it to work! The best is yet to come.
