Best Business (Life) Advice Ever!
Last month, as I was prepping for Mother’s Day and my two-week trip to Canada, I remembered the best life advice I’ve ever gotten.
Four years ago, I was stuck in the "safe zone."
I had a familiar job. I had a stable income. A loving family. What more could a person want?
But, at the same time, my dreams were gathering dust. At some point, I had tucked them away on a shelf as if I couldn't have it all. It was almost as if I lost sight of my goals.
And then my mom - the steady rock, the loyal employee for decades - broke character and said:
"Start your own business. Take that leap."
Total plot twist! The safety-loving mom became the risk-taking chief cheerleader!
As we celebrated Mother's Day, I reflected on how special that moment was. For her to encourage me to take risks and believe in myself. For her to be the voice I needed to hear when I least expected it. For her to remind me of one of the most important goals: live life to the fullest.
Last week, I reflected on it again! During the trip, I decided to do something completely out of my comfort zone - whitewater rafting. As I gripped the paddle and faced the rushing rapids, I was also faced with the fact that real growth often starts with discomfort.
Four years and a thriving business later, here's what I know:
• Sometimes, the best push comes from the least expected source.
• Progress comes from setting goals with calculated risks.
• The greatest gift isn't just life; it's the courage to live it fully.
You don't leap without a life vest (or a plan) – but you do need to trust the process, prepare well, and paddle forward.
In business, setting your “leap goal” might look like launching a new service, restructuring your team, or finally having that tough conversation. It's uncomfortable. It’s unpredictable. But it’s also where breakthroughs happen.
